Rare Items
Rare Items are Items that are much harder to find than standard ones, and far more influential. Every Rare Item can drop from Loot Actions (Fish, Hunt, Explore and Mine, see Actions), but only rarely.
Each Rare Item has its own purpose. Some are ingredients for the highest tier Boosts. Others give unusual abilities when used: Forbidden Knowledge summons a Boss (see Bosses), and Bconomy Sourcecode duplicates Items you own up to a fixed value. Others are Equipment, such as the Rainmaking Amulet and Auspicious Coin, or feed Pet and Farm features.
Finding them
- Each Loot Action charge has a small chance to also drop one Rare Item. The Item is picked from the Rare list, with cheaper Rares tending to be more likely.
- Your active Item Boosts and action multipliers do not raise this chance.
- The Fortuity Prestige perk raises your rare discovery multiplier.
- The Lucky Charm is a craftable Boost that increases your Rare Item luck for a limited time. It is a separate system from action multipliers. Lucky Charms also come from the Exquisite Trunk in the Daily Reward, and some higher Boost recipes use them as ingredients.
- A Lunar Shard reveals one Rare Item when opened, chosen with odds that favour lower value Rares. Luck effects do not change shard odds. Lunar Shards are themselves a Rare Item drop.
- Finding a Rare Item yourself earns a Trophy, and the find is announced to the world.
Selling and keeping
Do not sell an Item you do not recognise at its base worth: Rare Items are often worth far more on the Market and are often needed in recipes. Compare the Market price with the use it would give you before selling. A shard can be sold for a known amount of BC or opened for a random Rare Item. Which is better depends on current prices and your goals. See Items for how worth and Market price differ.
Restricted profiles cannot use the Market. Rare Items there come from your own finds, and the Supply Depot features one Rare Item per day.
