Salvage is the Relay Network's own currency. The Refinery makes it from items, and almost every other part of the Network spends it.

Where Salvage comes from

  • Refinery. The main source. Commit items, then claim the Salvage from its output buffer.
  • Refunds. Fuel you withdraw from a Mint or Recovery Bay comes back as Salvage.
  • Rewards. Some Achievements, quest level rewards and the daily Refined leaderboard draw pay Salvage.

What Salvage is spent on

Spent on Notes
Modules Crafting new Modules and levelling them, on every Bay
Bays From your third Bay onward
Mint fuel Optional; powers the Work boost
Recovery fuel Required for Recovery to work at all
Relay Research Network-wide improvements, together with items
Bay Upgrades Per-Bay improvements, together with items
Network Store Relay items, a daily sale and DX Coolant
Transmutation upgrades Transmutation Speed and Queue upgrades. Recipes themselves cost only items

Tips

  • Salvage income limits how fast the rest of the Network grows. Early on, put Salvage back into Refinery Modules and levels.
  • Claim your Refinery before its buffer fills, or research Overflow Cutoff so a full buffer stops wasting items.
  • Your stored Salvage has a very large cap. Salvage that would go over it stays unclaimed in the Refinery buffer.

Changelog

Release date Update Changes
August 31, 2026 The Pyre: rites, relics, and a new season
  • two repeating salvage reward tracks, starting early and scaling deep into the season.
July 25, 2026 v2026.07.25
  • Cryo Gel / Salvage deposit popovers are simpler: fewer preset buttons, withdraw tucked behind a link, and the popover closes itself after a deposit.
July 14, 2026 The Recovery Bay
  • Fuel is Salvage. It draws from the same shared Salvage pool your other bays use, so a busy Recovery Bay is one more reason to keep the Refinery running.
  • Over-clock: aggressive. Bigger, more frequent cuts, but it runs much hotter and burns much more Salvage.
July 2, 2026 v2026.07.02
  • Withdrawing mint fuel no longer lets your Salvage go over the 25M cap.
June 18, 2026 v2026.06.18.2
  • Charge builds gradually as salvage is actually burned by the bay. Simply depositing salvage right before pressing Work no longer gives instant benefit.
  • The bar shows how much “Charge” the bay has built toward the cap (full charge now requires burning 300 salvage).
June 17, 2026 v2026.06.17
  • The Refinery now burns much more BC to produce Salvage. Salvage rates were retuned so salvage/min feels consistent, and Salvage values are now shown as whole numbers (no trailing decimals).
  • Quest and leaderboard Salvage rewards were rescaled upward. Players have been back-paid the difference for quest milestones already earned so your quest progress/rewards reflect the new scale.
May 21, 2026 Welcome to the Relay Network

TL;DR

  • Salvage is the new relay-only material. It funds research, bay upgrades, and new module crafting. Leftovers can be used as Mint fuel for a bonus.

The Mint, in plain terms

  • Fueling the Mint with Salvage adds roughly a 30% BC bonus on top of baseline.

Salvage

  • Salvage is the material the relay system runs on. It is not a market item and it does not live in your inventory. It has its own balance, shown on the Relay Network page and on a new Relay Network section of your Inventory page.
  • Salvage funds, in priority order:
  1. The research tree (account-wide upgrades)
  2. Bay upgrades (per-bay upgrades)
  3. New module crafting
  4. Mint fuel (overflow use, optional bonus BC)
  • You can earn Salvage four ways: the Refinery, daily and weekly Refined leaderboards, the new Relay Network Launch quest season, and a small passive trickle from specialized explore and mine pets (see below).

The Relay Network Launch season

  • Salvage drops directly from quest rewards at every level 100, scaling from 5 up to 50 per claim.
