The Market is where players on the Main profile trade Items with each other. It keeps a seller's orderbook for every Item: you can buy listed Items, or list your own for others to buy. It is the only way to trade Items directly between players. It unlocks at the Missing game reference: unlockRequirement rank.

Restricted profiles (Ironman and Hardcore) cannot use the Market. They use the Supply Depot instead.

Buying

You always buy from the cheapest listing first, and you cannot buy your own listings. When a purchase fills several listings at different prices, you see a breakdown before you confirm. In the amount box you can enter:

Entry What it buys
A number That exact quantity.
max or all As many as your BC affords at the cheapest price.
A price after max, such as max 500 As many as your BC affords at up to that price each, across several price levels.
A percentage, such as 50% Spends that share of your BC at the cheapest price.

A small cheapest listing can make an Item look cheap when most of the quantity you need costs more, so read the breakdown.

Listing

Pick a price and an amount and the Items leave your inventory until sold or taken back. You can remove a listing at any time to get the Items back.

  • Prices go up in steps of Missing game reference: marketPriceStep BC.
  • The lowest price you can ask is the Item's worth (see Items) rounded up to the next step.
  • The highest price starts at Missing game reference: marketBaseMaxMultiplier times the lowest. Each account Tier adds one more times, and each level of the Mercantilist Prestige perk adds Missing game reference: marketPerkMultiplier more.
  • At Mercantilist level Missing game reference: mercantilistMaxLevel on a Main profile, all price limits are removed.
  • Items bound to your account, and a few Items that are kept off the Market, cannot be listed.
  • New listings at an existing price queue behind the older ones.

Fees

When an Item sells, a fee of Missing game reference: marketFeePercent% is taken from the seller's proceeds. The confirmation shows what you will actually earn per Item. The Insider Prestige perk lowers the fee, down to a minimum of 2.5%.

Price and trade history

Each Item shows its price history and its trading volume over time, and every Market transaction is logged. Use these, not just the current asking price, to judge a fair price. A high asking price alone does not mean anyone has paid it. See also Player Logs.
